Dr. Olayemi O. Dawodu
Dr. Olayemi O. Dawodu is an Anatomic and Molecular Pathologist with a distinguished career spanning over 19 years in clinical and administrative roles. She holds an M.B.B.S from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, and fellowships in Anatomic and Molecular Pathology and Laboratory Medicine from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria and the West African College of Physicians, respectively, allowing her to practice across Nigeria and the West African region. Additionally, she is an alumna of Said Business School, University of Oxford Executive Education.
Dr. Dawodu's extensive experience includes training at the Department of Pathology, Indiana University, and Purdue University in the United States. She specializes in Gynecologic and Endocrine Pathology, with a particular emphasis on the thyroid gland and environmental pathology.
Currently, Dr. Dawodu serves as the MD/CEO of Clina-Lancet Laboratories, a renowned name in healthcare and part of the Cerba-Lancet Healthcare group. Since joining the organization in 2015 as a country Histopathologist, she quickly ascended to her current position in 2016. In her role, she provides strategic leadership, manages daily business operations, and oversees the growth and development of the organization.
Passionate about improving the healthcare sector, Dr. Dawodu is dedicated to delivering excellent pathology services, administrative expertise, and leadership. An avid researcher, she has published articles in local and international journals and serves as a reviewer for a leading national pathology journal. She is also a Senior Lecturer in Anatomic Pathology at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
Dr. Dawodu contributes her expertise to various advisory roles and boards across different sectors, including her role as a member of the Accreditation Advisory Committee for the Nigerian National Accreditation System and her involvement in the "Health as a Business" Committee of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group. She is a member of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria, a WimBiz Mentor, and one of the first 50 founding members of Gaia Africa, a C-suite women-only business club in Africa. Moreover, she is part of the prestigious female-only "Angel Investors" club in Africa called "Rising Tide Africa," promoting female entrepreneurs with seed investments.
Her outstanding work has garnered notable awards, such as the "Medical Personality Leadership Prize Winner 2016" and the "Best Female CEO in the West African Region" at the 2017 ECOWAS Quality Awards.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. Dawodu fosters a team-based approach and values capacity-building to achieve organizational goals. She is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare, particularly pathology and diagnostic services, in Nigeria and Africa.
In her spare time, Dr. Dawodu enjoys reading, dancing, and traveling. She believes in always presenting the best version of oneself in every opportunity. She is married and a loving mother to three children.
